WHAT AN IID DOES

An Ignition Interlock Device (IID) is a breathalyzer wired into your vehicle’s ignition system. Before the engine starts, the driver blows into the unit — if alcohol is detected above the preset limit, the car won’t start. Random rolling retests are required while driving to confirm continued compliance.
